The most romantic moment in the whole series was not only ruined once in that finale last season, but once again as I had to watch and see a painful adaptation of the best chapter in the manga again in the new season! By adding this scene it really ruined so much to the story, but I was sadly expecting it when I noticed that since the last season Zero didn’t really “change” from his last “embrace”. Anyway in as little words as possible, this episode primarily started off with Zero going to see Kaname where they had a fight and Zero then drank his blood. Also, Ichiru came to the school as a student and then met up later with Zero and then continued to talk about the “Twin Curse”. Near the end, Zero had his little moment with Yuki, but ended it before it was able to progress to anything worth the wait with his classic “It’s Nothing” quote. Yuki then went to Kaname wanting to learn her past, but he then talked about how he thinks that if she knew, it would make her hate him, but to make this trust he decided that they would be lovers. In all, I think Zero deserves some points because Yuki was happy with him and they had the cute but pointless hand reach moment. Kaname will have to get docked points because not only did Yuki have to slap him, but Kaname was forcing his love on her, which is really annoying… Anyway, the true tragedy in this episode was that Shiki didn’t have a single scene! How am I might to have my obligatory Shiki screencap for every episode if he wasn’t in this one? It’s truly disappointing, but I’ll have my fingers crossed for the next episode!
So, for more ranting about the purpose to why the scene between Zero and Kaname pissed me off so much was because it just doesn’t make sense to the story! Initially, the reason why he drank Kaname’s blood was because he was falling to a Level E vampire. This time from what I understood, Kaname slashed him with his super sharp nails and made his bleeding so uncontrollable that he needed to drink his blood to live, but that doesn’t make much sense so clarifications will be accepted. Anyway, the point is that it wasn’t as nearly as sexy as it should have been. In the manga, they portrayed this completely different and although at one point Zero did have a gun to Kaname’s head it wasn’t as he was biting him! If you want to know what I mean and you haven’t read the manga yet, simply read chapter 30 and you will know what I mean. Honestly, this used to be the most romantic scene, but once again the anime ruined it.
Enough of me complaining, well not really because I tend to that a lot with this series, but moving on to another subject… I don’t see why so many people love Kaname? In both North America and Japan after poles were taken, Kaname seems to be everyone’s favourite character (Statistics taken from the latest Shojou Beat magazine). This somewhat surprises me because whatever happened to the Zero love? Kaname kind of bores me much of the time, especially in the anime because he plays no real purpose and just hangs around letting people talk about how great and mysterious he is. Well, obviously Zero isn’t much better being the guy who is the emo teen, but I’m a Shiki fan anyway for a reason. Though, in the end I believe that Kaname has no chance to keep Yuki, Zero will obviously be the one she chooses, unless we get some stupid ending where she chooses neither of them or both? Anyway, this episode was just a less intense version of the season finale, but simply more disappointing, the only thing I can hope is that the next episode will have some Shiki in it.
