Shigofumi ~Stories of Last Letter~ episode 8

This was an outstanding episode! Not only was it extremely entertaining, but it also held a very important lesson; do not use your daughter’s body as your rough draft for your story. She is bound to not like it (nobody wants to be written on!). This was probably the best episode yet; it definitely showed the potential this series has. The story basically explained most of the things that we didn’t already understand, but it wasn’t like one of those episodes from series where you have really boring explanations, it was intense and compelling! Since the last episode, Fumika got shot by her father. Her staff friend insisted that that they don’t bring her to the hospital for many reasons, but the main one being that she can actually heal herself (very impressive skill, especially because somehow she was able to repair her clothes as well). She can heal herself and not end up dying because she is already dead, which makes sense. Though, we also learn why Nojima thought he knew Fumika from somewhere, turns out Fumika had an intense case of split personality. Her personality is split between Fumi and Mika; mika is the one who we see at the present time, fumi is in a coma at the hospital. It’s a bit hard to explain, but when you actually see it, it all makes sense…

Everything in this episode was great, except for the ending because the father ends up getting away clean! He shot his own daughter! The least they could have done was burn his house down or something, but instead everyone just walks out all happy and dandy! Another valuable lesson I learnt from this episode was that you shouldn’t own lots of weapons in your home especially when you have a daughter who isn’t very happy in life. (Fumika is a very fast runner!). Also something new was introduced, which is the mail carriers council. I hope they explain about that further later on in the series. In the episode they also made sense of the opening for the series, which mean that I can now enjoy and appreciate it even more! It also seems like they are fallowing a new format that is more dedicated to Fumika than just the characters that she gives the letters to, which makes this series even better. The next episode looks really good. It’s called “reunion”, so I’m curious to the significance of that. It seems that it will probably have a lot of Chiaki in it, so maybe we’ll learn a bit more about her experiences in mail carrier-dom… Considering she is one of my favourite characters, I really can’t wait!
