Gakuen Alice episode 1

I started watching this because one of my friends loves it and recommended it to me. Though, when I asked her what it was actually about, she just responded by saying, “Just watch it”. (How nice…) So far, what I learned from watching the first episode is that Gakuen Alice isn’t about a girl named Alice. (Much to my surprise) In fact, it starts off with a very naive girl named Mikan, who has a best friend named Hotaru, who had to leave their poor and pathetic school, to go off to some fancy place called Alice Academy. Mikan was obviously extremely sad, so sad that she actually decided to leave home to go and find her. She actually finds the place and one thing leads to another that a teacher who works there proposes that Mikan might have a special ability that may let her get into the school.

From what I can tell this is going to be a cute comedy. It was simply adorable both the opening intro and the ending, even though the ending theme was a bit disturbing because I remember seeing a bear with an axe? (Don’t ask) Though, the reason why I knew this was going to be something cute was when they mention snapping turtle-mail, which if you couldn’t already tell is sending telegrams to people by giving it to a toy turtle, which will within the week give to the recipient. I can’t wait to see where this series is heading to because just by watching the first episode I can tell that I already love it! And maybe by the next episode I will fully understand what the characters from the academy are actually talking about whenever they repeatedly use the word “Alice” (not in the context of the academy) in a conversation! Yay!
